Are you maximizing the potential of your content? If you are a business who is consistently creating, editing and distributing content, are you maximizing the potential of your content? A rhythmic system of churning can lead to burning and turning with the end result being more static than dynamic. Having an established pattern and workflow to generate and distribute content is a key element to any content marketing strategy. You must pay close attention to the metrics of how your content is received, shared and interacted with in order to adjust accordingly. Whether you post to blogs and social media regularly or upload videos to YouTube consistently, it can be a challenge to come up with something unique for each piece of content that you distribute. How do bring a unique flair every time? That is the biggest challenge when your day-to-day is to churn out a rhythmic dose of content. Even more so in the summer and lull seasons where less people are paying attention to your content. This is the perfect time to re-visit what you already have and breathe new life into that content! Recycling? NO! REPURPOSING…there’s a big difference. Check those analytics, which content had the most engagement? Take that 5-minute video on YouTube, make a 30 second teaser and blast it out on Instagram and Twitter. It’s ok to change the message or call to action, that’s what repurposing is all about. TIPWhen your shooting photos or video, train yourself to always be looking for B roll, cutaway shots, behind the scenes, stock footage and images so that you can expand your content and maximize its potential. TIPWrite a blog recap of a hot series, include a short ‘why’ of each article with links to each blog post, think ‘an inside look’ to why you wrote that series. There’s no shame in repurposing content. A solid content marketing strategy will include maximizing the potential of your content. It’s no small task creating regular content, that’s 90% of the workload. As you learn to think beyond the scope of that particular piece you will achieve that last 10% - the icing on the cake! This is part of our series focusing on five aspects of content – creating, managing, strategizing, distributing, analyzing. Stay tuned over the next three months on how to keep your content fresh during the summer lull.
